Does anybody have an English translation for "À Toi"? I've been learning French for a few years now, and I'm doing well, but some of this song I do not understand. I would like to sing it to my class, and I would like to know some of the words that I do not know. Thank you, and I appreciate it.

Hi

I was the bass player on most of Joe's recordings, both London and Paris.

Does anyone have complete list of all the songs please?

I tried my best to make a good translation
If some lines are too bad english to be understandable (i'm french) please reply and make a proposal so i or someone else can do better.

À toi
to you

À la façon que tu as d'être belle
to the way you are beautyful

À la façon que tu as d'être à moi
to the way you are mine

À tes mots tendres un peu artificiels
to your tender words (that are) a bit artificial
Quelquefois
sometimes

À toi
to you

À la petite fille que tu étais
to the little girl you were

À celle que tu es encore souvent
to the little girl you stiil often are

À ton passé, à tes secrets
to your past life, to your secrets

À tes anciens princes charmants
to your past lovers

À la vie, à l'amour
to life, to love

À nos nuits, à nos jours
to our nghts, to our days

à l'éternel retour de la chance
to the everlasting return of chance

À l'enfant qui viendra
to the child who will come

Qui nous ressemblera
who will resemble us

Qui sera à la fois toi et moi
who will be both you and me

À moi
to me

À la folie dont tu es la raison
to the madness / foolishness of which you are the reason / wiseness

À mes colères sans savoir pourquoi
to the angers without knowing why

À mes silences et à mes trahisons
to my silences and to my treasons

Quelquefois
sometimes

À moi
to me

Au temps que j'ai passé à te chercher
to the time i spent seeking for you

Aux qualités dont tu te moques bien
to the (my) qualities of which you make fun

Aux défauts que je t'ai cachés
To the defaults i hid from you

À mes idées de baladin
to my baladin's ideas

À la vie, à l'amour
À nos nuits, à nos jours
À l'éternel retour de la chance
À l'enfant qui viendra
Qui nous ressemblera
Qui sera à la fois toi et moi

À nous
to us

Aux souvenirs que nous allons nous faire
to the memories which we are going to make together

À l'avenir et au présent surtout
to the futur and moreover/especially to the present

À la santé de cette vieille terre
god bless (health with) our (this) old earth

Qui s'en fout
which does not care

À nous
to us

À nos espoirs et à nos illusions
to our hopes and our illusions

À notre prochain premier rendez-vous
to our next first date / rendez-vous

À la santé de ces millions d'amoureux
god bless (health with) those millions of lovers

Qui sont comme nous
Who are like us

À toi
À la façon que tu as d'être belle
À la façon que tu as d'être à moi
À tes mots tendres un peu artificiels
Quelquefois
À toi
À la petite fille que tu étais
À celle que tu es encore souvent
À ton passé, à tes secrets
À tes anciens princes charmants
